On October 21, 2025, the Lung Transplant Center Auditorium of the National Lung Hospital organized a scientific seminar on “Strategies for Managing Lung Nodules,” attracting hundreds of doctors and experts from Vietnam and abroad through both in-person and online formats.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Dinh Van Luong, Director of the National Lung Hospital, emphasized: “The detection rate of lung nodules is increasing thanks to advances in diagnostic imaging; however, monitoring and management remain a major challenge. This workshop is an opportunity for colleagues to exchange and update optimal approaches in lung nodule management, contributing to reducing the burden of lung cancer in Vietnam.”

The workshop was attended by Assoc. Prof. Punnarerk Thongcharoen – President of the Southeast Asian Thoracic Surgery Society, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University (Thailand) and speakers from the National Lung Hospital. The presentations focused on in-depth topics such as: guidelines for managing lung nodules according to international recommendations (NCCN, Lung-RADS, Fleischner), the role of imaging and artificial intelligence in lung cancer screening, as well as advanced interventional and surgical techniques currently being implemented at the hospital.
In particular, the live televised thoracic endoscopic surgery (VATS) program, performed by the surgical team of Dr. Dinh Van Luong, allowed delegates to follow the actual technical procedures and engage in in-depth discussions about modern treatment methods.

The workshop is a testament to the continuous efforts of the National Lung Hospital in training, international cooperation, and technology transfer, aiming for early detection, effective treatment, and improved quality of life for lung cancer patients.
